Bura reserve

Jabal Baraa is a region declared by the Yemeni government as a natural reserve located in the northeast of Al Hudaydah Governorate, overlooking the Tihama plain and contains dense tropical forests and contains rare animals and plants.

an introduction :

Jebel Bara Reserve is one of the nature reserves sites in Yemen that was proposed within the national strategy for biological diversity in Yemen, as it represents the remaining similarly dense forests in the Arabian Peninsula, especially animal diversity, in addition to plant diversity. The reserve was supported by the World Bank as a contribution to protect plant and animal biodiversity in order to develop and sustain natural resources, and to ensure human coexistence with the components of this reserve within the framework of continuous support for three other sites. Auxiliary justifications for choosing the Jabal Bura reserve: the reserve forms a typical environment for tropical forests, as it hosts more than 22 species, 12 genera, and 11 families of plants. The Anitzus risoolaus represents one of the rare trees in the reserve area. The reserve also contains natural habitats for animal and plant wildlife that It has natural, economic, social, medical, aromatic and pastoral benefits, which requires the necessity of identifying, studying and making optimal use of it. It represents a group of ecosystems within an integrated ecosystem.

Protected site

Jabal Baraa is located in the east of Al Hudaydah Governorate, 50 km from the north. It is bordered by the isolation of Bani Baqi, Al Faish, Al Manoub, and the isolation of Bani Sulaiman, and from the south the Black Valley and the village of Haz Al Shamma, and from the east is the village of Al Jeelan and from the marvelous west. The area of the reserve is estimated at 4,100 hectares.
